So I decided to buy a movie, HD, of course. Little did I know that I would be forced to play it in the iTunes video player. Oh well, fine, do what I have to do.

Then, I got this cute gem: if I wanted to play it full screen on my secondary monitor, it would blank out my primary monitor. Ooookay, so I tried playing it full screen on my primary monitor instead, only to find out that it would blank out the secondary monitor. I checked every forum, every FAQ and this cute bullshit is a 'feature', to keep focus on my video playing. Really? Apple has never heard of 'multi-tasking'?

Can't play it in VLC or DiVX because you know... iTunes "Play Fair" DRMing (a misnomer if I ever read one). If I can play my iTunes music purchase in other players, why the hell should I be forced to use the cludgy crappy iTunes video player? I bought it, I should be able to play it with any program (VLC and Divx can handle non DRM mv4 files)

I looked around for solutions to this. Many of them are slow and cumbersome. Audials One will record the video while playing it in iTunes. BUT it keeps the programs on top of everything on Primary monitor, and you can't switch it to your secondary, it keeps reverting back to primary. So, I tried running it overnight, and of course it crashed. :/ I checked other software brands, and just about all of them seemed to do the same thing. Record it while it played in iTunes, making your computer pretty much unusable until it was finished.

I managed to find one, TunesKit. Unlike the others, it removes the DRM so you can play it in other players, rather than recording it live, and saves the result as an universal MP4 video. I tried it, and it converted the first 5 minutes of the movie in about 5 seconds. I watched the result; crisp, clean, audio perfect.

I can now play the movie, FULL screen, on secondary monitor, without blanking out the primary. And it's NOT for distribution, but for my personal use.

I went to redeem my Downloadable HD copy of The Martian, and it turns out there are catches to it. GooglePlay - Can only download it to watch later on a Chromebook.

All others have hardware ID specific play only.

And then they wonder why people go out to find a digital copy to download elsewhere. Me? I'll make my OWN digital copy, and they can go pound sand.

I tried to RTFM for my new phone, but if anyone here is old enough to remember this, you'll know what I mean. The manual is like looking at one of those itty bitty books that you used to get in a box of CrackerJacks. Even good sighted son said "Forget it!".

I have managed to muddle through and have it set up with only a few hiccups along the way.

Typing of Life and Tech: Saw "TRON: Legacy". Hooah! Dayam it was good. Would have been better if we didn't have the flock of teens behind us yakking so loud that mild mannered Aikidomayland went to management to complain (Even mellow Alan was tempted to tell them to STFU). Kids were politely, yet firmly told to STFU or leave. Maybe not STFU, but "There have been complaints. Your choices are keep it down, or please leave."

What was even more amazing, was when getting popcorn and soda, starting talking about the original TRON movie. "Oh, was that some sort of prequel?" :o

Told him to go rent a copy of TRON, but try not to giggle too much at the old tech, then come back to see TRON: Legacy.

Not going to spoil, or go into a detailed review, but I have to say this much. The movie RAWKED. Even Aikidomayland liked it! I was surprised that he did, as he tends to be a purist when it comes to Star Trek.

And, on advise of ShadoutCarver, we stayed until the very end of the credits. Was worth it.

Hoping to go to archery tomorrow, but not too sure. Eyes are still playing up, red and itchy. Last thing I need is to have them irritated more by dust and even more pollen.

Flat ginger ale settles the tummy nicely. aikidomayland is being a dear. Think I will keep him. :)

Watching an old old movie with him, one of my favorites. "Auntie Mame" with Rosalind Russell. I saw this movie when I was about 10 yrs old. It had a big influence on me to not be the mundane or 'normal'.

Took some pain meds last night about 10pm, started drowsing around 11... and got up at almost 9am. :o Still feel a bit fuzzy headed, Mersyndol 'hangover', so to speak. But I do feel a lot less cumbersome and stiff.

[livejournal.com profile] aikidomayland and I have plans to go out with [livejournal.com profile] _meegan_ , Daggles, and her boys to see POTC2 tonight. And the choice of cimema has been be carefully and courteously selected to be one that is known to be comfortable for me.

Comparatively speaking.

Had my hydrotherapy session today. That was typical, push until I could no more, come home, remove the stink of chlorine. Take pictures of goofy cats.

[livejournal.com profile] _meegan_ came over, and we went to the shops to pick up my trial pair of contacts, and some more Nurofen PLUS (the plus is codeine) for me. Stopped by BlockBuster and rented "Monster In Law", got some lunch and came back. Both [livejournal.com profile] _meegan_ and I were in stitches laughing at the movie, as we could relate to the bride to be's dilemma, and battle with the soon to be mother in law.

She also let me borrow "Hellboy". Watching that now.

Have also been shopping around for a waterproof MP3 player, and after careful price comparisons, and checking specs, I managed to get a good price on a decent 1 gig player. No more Donna Summer version of " McArthur Park", or elevator music rendition of "When I'm 64" while at hydrotherapy.

Yesterday, I made pancakes for breakfast. They were such a hit, I made them again for Sunday Breakfast. I have a mob (2) drooling males trailing after me. It's nice to be appreciated.

Saw Cars last night, and I was once again surprised at Pixars work. I had thought it would be a kiddie flick but it wasn't. I find it amazing how many big name actors line up for a shot to be in a Pixar ' or Dreamwork animated movie.

Archery on the menu today. Dunno how I will do but willing to try.

Oh, on a funny aside, I have found a rather radical way to stop my limping with the left leg. Friday, I took a rather long-ish walk. Relied on the right leg a bit too much so now my right calf is sore and crampy. 2 crampy calves = negation of limp. *chuckle* I will be sure to avoid this in the future though.
