I've been sorting and packing what camera gear I'm planning to take to Broome.  Although I'm taking less than I did last time, it weighs more? 2 camera bodies, three lenses, two extenders, Surface Pro. Puts the bag 2kgs over.  My choices are put a camera body or a lens, along with the extenders, into checked baggage.

It doesn't help when the camera bag itself is 2kgs!  Wing  said that since his Olympus gear is lighter, I might be able to put some of my gear in his carry on bag.  If not, I have a lightweight camera bag I can safely stow my gear, and put it in the checked in baggage.

Wing and I went for a bit of a long walk today. It was good and it was to test something.

Although I can wear the compression knee bandage if I am going for short walks, or around the house and yard. Longer walks, I will be needing the hinged knee brace. It's good to know this now, before we head to Sydney! Would be a disaster to get there and not be able to walk long distance .

So, pack or wear the hinged brace, pack the three compression knee bandages.

And we have been discussing what gear to bring. One camera body, 5D4. Lenses: 24-70, 70-300 and the 12-24. Should have all bases covered that way. Also, bring SD cards, as I found out they will have cameras set up for the studio/photo sessions, and the ones set up only take SD cards. I will bring CF cards for when we do our own photowalks in Sydney.

Un-son, Robin is heading to Germany to audition to continue his music studies. This has been his dream for years, and as happy as I am for him, I "haz a sad" that he is going away.

I will miss hearing his singing while I am puddling around in the back yard weeding and hanging out clothes. I will miss hearing his singing as he is coming up the street. And the conversations.. he has a great sense of humor. His assistance, and help (he was the one that went over the neighbors fence, down the drop to hand me Loki when Loki fell off neighbors roof and broke his leg). Yes, I will miss Robin.

I wish him the best, and really hopes he lands his dreams. And when he does, I will be able to say "I knew him when..."

That means Wing is going back to the dojo tonight. I can only imagine how stiff and sore he is going to be tomorrow morning. It's been three months since his last training session, as he had knee surgery. Then he goofed a few times, making the knee very sore, setting himself back a few weeks. Also, I made him wait until we came back from Hamilton Island. Last thing I wanted was to having him limping around.

On an aside, I did manage to catch the cold Wing had. At least the worst of it waited until I got home. Silver lining and all that. :)

Have about 100 photos of "Canon Island" up on Flickr set "Canon Island 2012"

Still have the videos to go through. Fun fun!

Good news is I did manage to get a room at the Pan Pacific for "DoomCon". Not at SwanCon block rates, as I wasn't planning on taking a room until last week. Negotiated good rates though, seeing as Wing won't be there every night.

Other than my trip to come to Perth, it was the best trip I have ever taken in my life. It was the first trip I've gone on where I have been sad to have to come back home.

Hamilton Island - Early Morning

Wing 's and my order from Make Your Own Jeans arrived this morning. Just in time for our trip this Sunday. We got an email they had been shipped on Monday, and arrived Friday. Makes me wonder why it takes 2 to 3 weeks for something to come across Australia, when something from Mumbai gets here in 5 days. heh

All four pairs of pants have been laundered and are out on the clothes line drying. Love the carry bags they were packed in. Will put them back in for the trip, especially white linen pants.

5 More sleeps until Hamilton Island trip. Trying to keep up on the laundry, and have made a list of things to take.

Also been wearing my Teva's to make sure they are comfortable, as I need shoes that are waterproof, sturdy and not uncomfortable (aka chafing/blisters)

My biggest do I or don't I is what lenses/camera gear to bring. Will bring the 7D body, battery grip, CF, CF reader and laptop. Maybe three lenses: wide angle, GP lens and telephoto.

I seem to have become sensitive to all three of the tattoo ointments. Papaw, Benpathen and Dermeze. *sigh* So, just been gently washing it cool water when the itching starts.

Oh well, my eyes are trying to cross. early night for me.

Needed some shorts/capris pants, some shirts that didn't look like they could be used to wipe engine oil off a crescent wrench, some waterproof shoes, and a new floppy hat.

Tried going to a store that caters to bigger than swizzle stick, but all they had was winter stuff in stock. So, off to K-mart. I wasn't too enthused about having to get shorts at K-Mart because last time, i couldn't even get my backside into the largest size they had available. So, in I went, and luckily they did have denim capris pants. So, I grabbed the largest size, and the next three sizes down. Off to the embarrassment of the fitting room (yeah, right).

Tried on the largest pair... so baggy I didn't have to unbutton them to remove them. Tried the next size down... still a bit too big. Down another size.. almost but too loose around the waist. Next size down fit but the rise in the back was just a bit too low. I'm a firm believer in "Just say no to crack!". So back up to the previous size. I got the pullover shirts loose floppy, as I will be wearing singlets under them.

Off for shoes! got a nice pair of dress shoes for the formal stuff at Hamilton Island. Got some waterproof sneakers/sandals. Also discovered my left foot is almost a full size larger than my right foot! heh.

Last but not least, a new floppy hat, as my old one has a piece of duct tape closing a split on the top. Got one dressy enough to use for other than traipsing around the beach.

Wing showed me his selections of clothing. He bought himself some board shorts! With a rather festive pattern on them! Well, tweak my nose and call me Pinocchio! Surprised the heck outta me!

So, we are all set for glad rags. Wing still needs to find some waterproof shoes in his size. Better hurry up...we only have 10 sleeps until Hamilton Island!

Woke up at 4am with headache. Not a biggie to deal with. Just got up, took some ibuprofen and went back to bed. Or at least tried to. Keito and Loki decided that I had slept enough.

So, fed the two fur-boys, and started getting a few more things ready for trip to Broome tomorrow. Will be doing some laundry, as I have to make sure the clothing I pack are the ones I can still comfortably wear. Still a bit tender and bruised around the navel.

On a totally different track, Ziggy (our Bengal) has this love of plastic. She likes chewing on certain types of plastic bags/envelopes. Found out it's because some of them are made with animal fats to be biodegradable. But we can't have her gnawing on plastic all the time. We have also found out she like bubble wrap. She will pad on it, and seems to like the popping noises it makes when her claws pierce it. She also likes sleeping in it.

Observe:

Cozy.

Wing's company had a "Last Hurrah", as it's been sold, and is no longer the same company. Was a lot of fun. Yes, I know that "Sugarloaf Rock" is one of the most photographed landmarks in W.A., but it's the first time I have had the privilege of photographing it.
