"International Womens' Day"

After a bobble with the wrong address being emailed to us (we arrived at the Ottey Center. Receptionist took one look at us and said "You want the Atwell Center" and proceeded to give us directions.) we pulled up to the Atwell Community Center.

We arrived there and was overwhelmed with the greetings! I have to admit I was a bit nervous about dancing, seeing as I haven't quite gotten 100% of my legs back, so to speak, but once the music started, and we started dancing, all the worry and even the pain just disappeared. We danced wonderfully, to a very appreciated audience, and other attendees.

We generated much interest, and have been invited to return next year. :)

The party/gig was amazingly fun. It is so f*cking great to have people know when to clap, when to join in, and when a really special/tricky dance moveis done and appreciate it.

We got hired for to dance at a party. All dressed and ready to go. Boy am I glad the girl at the pharmacy got the right eyedrops for my problem. I can actually see fairly clearly today. BOO yah.

Wasn't too sure if my eyes had settled down or not, so got ready very early. It's not as if there is a 'use by' time. :)

There is something about having a regular performance schedule that just can't be beat.  :)  We traded time slots with Andy, a folk singer, just so we could try dancing with the lunch crowd around. Pete was worried we would be in the way of lunch goers, but nothing could be further from the truth. Because of the table set up, we were easily out of the way, and were able to dance between tables and were able to also go to different areas where people were sitting.

Came home, and decided to give myself a pampering henna treatment. My poor mop is a bit abused from all the braiding and twisting. Nothing like a neutral henna to give it some strength, and smoothness back. It's just the 90 mins of waiting that gets to me.  Impatient, I guess.

All dressed up yet again, and heading to one of our regular gigs. Still feeling a bit elated about this past weekend, and with luck, the feeling won't fade.  Watching Jurassic Park right nowm and it's bringing back memories of how Alan was after we had seen it at the cinema. He was totally googled eyed, and was so well behaved on the way home.  *snicker* At least his big brother, Paul, didn't tease him or try to scare him.

Big day tomorrow. Going to be at an all day event. Must make sure all tribal gear is packed and ready to go tomorrow. Two of our most experienced students will be there with us. Have to decide what I will be wearing tomorrow. Too many choices.

Went by the exhibition that [livejournal.com profile] _meegan_ 's mom is participating in. Hand looked fabrics, hand tatted lace, spun yarns, and just about everything in between. I got an original work of Sue Arvidsson! A beautiful shawl. Much prettiness.

Wow

Amazing performance today. It was just one of those flawless ones, that makes you know you have done everything absofragginlutely right.

Found out that Aparacidas' cafe will be moving in December. We will be performing at the new location as soon as Joanne is settled in. :)

Felt it was time for a change today too. A Zen cookie for anyone that can figure out what that change is/was.  ;)

Such a great feeling of accomplishment.

Today was a superlative day too.. definitely an 'est'.  Dancing was smooth and flawless. Had a bit of a laugh as someone we knew who isn't directly related to the old studio, but close enough, was there trying to give the other 4 people there techinical terms for what we were doing. Kind of difficult to do, seeing as that old studio group is still doing the same old same old, and we have advanced and progressed.  One of his table mates waved her hand at me, and said "Yes yes, now hush, I want to watch."  He acted as if he had bitten into a lemon, but his friends were very happily impressed and expressed thanx for the performance.

An absolutely beautiful man (no joke, he was stunning) came up to us and he was enthralled iwth the dancing. He said it was the most beautiful and precise dancing he had ever seen, and that we 'flowed like water' when we did the slow dances. He even enjoyed the fast ones too.  Three people commented on the slow dances, how much they liked seeing them, how they don't get to see them that often, and how well we do them.  'Nuther feeling of accomplishment.

The gig: we have been engaged to perform Oct 23.. details later after we have hammered them out.

This was one of the best days we have had at the Tropicana. We packed the place today! People stopping to watch from outside, then coming into sit during. Much applause, and came home with glowywarmfuzzy feelings.

Stopped by Signman on the way home, and it turns out their mail server was glitchy and they didn't get the files I sent. They were most impressed by our costuming, and the general appearance. Came home,Resent them, got to see a proof, and told Vicki to run with it.

Running off more flyers/brochures while my hair dries. Still feeling the warm fuzzies.
