This time, the van pulled all the way into the carport. I opened curtain*, looked right at the guy (different than yesterdays doofus), and walked out the side door to the gate. Opened it, and he looked at me and plunked the parcel behind one of the posts. I tip my head and give him a look 'Dude, I'm standing right here!'

He just gets back into his van and goes.

What is with their 'tudes, lately?

It sounds like they've been taking lessons in ignoring from the people at the Fremantle Hospital Pharmacy.

Or lessons from Dubya.

No, if they'd been taking lessons from Dubya they'd be rifling through your stuff looking for Weapons of Mass Destruction and killing anyone who gets in their way.

I was thinking more of how the obvious is invisible to him. Like his "The Surge is working" when it obviously isn't.

I had almost the same exact experience yesterday, except I got a wonderful card in the letter box instead. Grrrr.

That happened to me yesterday, but I stopped him before he back out of the car port. He almost shot up into the air when I asked "Just where do you think you're going?"

I had one of our delivery guys admit to me today that if he thinks no one is at home, then he doesn't bother knocking. Sigh. I had to point out that not having a car in the driveway doesn't mean that no one is home.

Amen to that! That is why I have the curtains open, weather permitting.

Have you checked yourself in a mirror today?

Other than that, the only response I can come up with is .....???

Have you checked yourself in a mirror today?

Yup, and I do have a reflection.

I believe that, as a cost cutting measure, Aus Post management made changes recently regarding available overtime for delivery staff.

From what I heard, regardless of how much mail they have to deliver, they have fixed hours, and if they don't get it delivered, they either work unpaid overtime, rush to get it done, or just let it back up.

So I imagine they're not particularly happy about being put in that position, and it's showing.

prk.

And then the load these poor guys with 1/3 more items than they can possibly deliver in a normal working day? (That's what UPS does to their drivers in the US.)

Oh great, leave it to the PTB to really piss off everyone.

I hate the post office some times. They just leave stuff on my porch and never bother to knock even if it looks like we are home.

I wouldn't mind if they dropped the parcels off, as they are screened from view, but this no knocking, just doing a SORRY TO HAVE MISSED YOU card tip in the mail box, is not right.

Hell I wouldn't mind if they were just consistent. Like "We do not deliver parcels - you will be given a notice and we will store it at the PO."

Of course one would also expect a corresponding decrease in the rate of breakages and reduced postal charges.
